:'( :( >:( ::)Pun Chi was a young Chinese merchant who wrote a peice that appealed to the Congress. It was telling the Congress that it was first that you gugs want us the Chinese to come to California and now you want us to leave! In the beginning the businessmen and officials were eager to get cheap labor for manufacturing, mining, and agricultural industries. So they encouraged the Chinese immigrants to come to California but when the population of the Chinese immigrants in California grew, the California started to hate the Chinese and wanted them to leave. So the California legislature and the courts took rights away from the Chinese so that it will make the Chinese want to leave.
:-/ :'( ::)This relates to our big question becuase the Chinese immigrants were being discriminated when there was too many of them in California. But in the beginning they weren't being treated as bad because they can help the business men earn more money. After the population grew the Californians disciminated them by taking away some of their rights. >:( :-X

Pun Chi related to the big question because there are laws that was made for the Cinese and Chinese only. People judge the Chinese too quickly because they were vied like thieves and enemies. Chinese were discriminated and oppressed because when they are in the adminstration of justice their testimoney was not recieved. Villans of other nations encouraged to rob and do violence to the Chinese. The Chinese were persecuted because of who they were. They were discriminated too because they couldn't testify. :-X

Pun Chi was a Chinese merchant who wrote a letter to try and appeal to the Congress. He was trying to address the problems that were happening. He was mentioning things like how the whites are humiliating the Chinese, how the killings of the Chinese were going unpunished and the persecution of the Chinese miners. He was addressing how unfair it was in America to the Chinese people. He was trying to stop the growing amount of Anti-Chinese groups.
This relates to the big question because if there was no racial intolerance between the whites and the Chinese, he wouldn’t have to try and address to the Congress the problems that the Chinese were having. It would save people time if there was no intolerance. There would be no complaining about the other races. But since there was, there was a lot of complaining between all the races, not only the Chinese.

Punchi is related to the Big Question because the Chinese were judged by their culture, race and color of their skin. The Chinese weren't judged by their hardwork and loyalties. They were judged just too quickly. The people didn't even want to get a chance to know them. All the other groups of people ganged up together and started to rob them and murder them. They were discriminated by not being able to testify. They were oppressed by getting murdered and robbed.

In this group, it is about how the Chinese think that they whites think as if they are thieves and enemies. So the Chinese wrote up 12 subjects based on what they think the whites are treating the Chinese badly. I never knew about the Pun Chi. I never knew that the Chinese made up these kinds of subjects against the whites about how they were treating the Chinese very badly. This is related to our big question because the Chinese were discriminated and this time the Chinese are kind of fighting back. They are fighting back because they are writing up like a declaration against the whites and what the whites have been doing to them. I think that it is unfair how the whites treat the Chinese badly and other races badly. I don’t think that the whites are that powerful.

Pun Chi was a young Chinese merchant wrote an appeal to Congress seeking help of the growing population of Chinese. He reminded Congress that Chinese people should have legal protection when they migrate to the US. He said the mining tax collectors abuse and murder the Chinese miners.
Pun Chi’s appeal is related to the Big Question because it says ways how the Chinese were oppressed. Some of them die and some were abuse. They had to give special taxes and weren’t getting the protection they needed. This is oppression, Congress don’t want to help but want to get rich off of the Chinese. They are racist and discriminative.

Pun Chi was a brave Chinese. He wrote a letter to congress saying that Chinese were not treated badly and unequally. He was trying to say that Chinese people are getting kill and the Anti-Chinese groups are getting larger and larger so he wanted the gouverment to do something to stop it.
This related to the big question because Chinese were being discriminated and Pun Chi was doing something to stop and telling the gouverment to do something to stop it.
